My 2008 c350 was having ESL/EIS issues. I took out my ignition switch with keyfob and ESL module and sent it to a service I purchased on EBay for $400 USD. The service sent back to me my ignition switch, keyfob, and new emulator module coded to my keyfob and ignition switch. I reinstalled everything again myself and now the issue is fixed forever. Replace the battery in the key fob or consider having a new key programmed for your vehicle. If the spare key doesn’t work, further diagnosis will be required to identify the ignition switch issue.
