On the camera enter the Bluetooth function settings and select Pairing. On the phone app open the Canon Connect app and select the plus sign to add a camera. Chose via Bluetooth. Follow the steps on the phone and complete the Bluetooth pairing. Now whenever you want to start any type of connection, start it from the phone app.
Ok further update: a friend has the exact same camera but is not on iPhone, so we did a little experiment - he connected his camera to his smartphone, no problem. Then I connected to his camera with my iPhone - again no problem, so a-ha, maybe NOT the app? Then he tried to connect his smartphone to

The installation was fine but when I connected my camera, I kept getting the title pop up for EOS utility and it would load for ages and then eventually close with a “failure to connect” message. So I uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, same result. Uninstalled again. I updated Windows 11 to see if that would make a difference, restarted
Finally worked out why my Cannon EOS Camera was not being recognised by Windows 10, finally got EOS Utility to work again.

Upddates on 04-05 2021: My issue was mainly the unusable conectivity with any type of connection between the EOS R5 and the computer/iPhone/iPad including USB-C cable, wifi and bluetooth. The issue was significant while the USB-C cable was not working. I couldn't use any feature from the EOS utility like taking live shots from control of the

EOS utility defaults to launching automatically when Windows starts. After one of the recent Win 10 updates, EOS utility would no longer find either of my 1DX series cameras. I set it so it no longer launches automatically at startup; to do this hit ctrl alt del to launch task manager, select the startup tab, and set EOS utility to disabled

Yep, tried that. The Windows 10 File Exploder doesn't see the camera's storage media for some reason. I suspect that the camera's firmware isn't Windows 10 compatible. See previous replies for details on my troubleshooting. The Windows 10 computer seems to be working correctly for other USB devices.

Press Playback and then select the button with the Wi-Fi icon. Initiate a new connection by selecting the smartphone icon on the screen, rather than pressing a previous connection from the connection history list. Complete the connection to you smart device (remember to launch the new Camera Connect app on your smart device). .
